Pros

Epic provides a great environment for someone right out of college. Lots of young people, casual work environment and Madison is a fun town. You're given lots of responsibility out of the gate and generally left to your own devices -- depending on your team lead. The work is interesting and sets you up for a great career someplace else.

Cons

The workload is demanding and generally inconsistent. The weeks range from 45 - 80 hours and you don't typically know the next month will look like. Travel time between buildings / campuses as well as travel to customer sites do not count toward your working hours. So, if you spend 7 hours flying out to California you still need to put in a full "day" of working time on top of that for the day. Feedback is inconsistent, at best. There is very little feedback given on a consistent basis and Epic fosters a culture where people do not given feedback directly. Instead, they hide behind a slew of tools and methods that put at least 1 (typically 2 or 3) people between the giver and receiver of the feedback. Feedback is generally negative since folks don't take (have?) the time to bother with positive feedback on their peers and team members. Judy made it clear that Implementation Services folks are not going to advance to senior levels in the company. A developer now runs the division and a trainer does the staff management. The company will always be development run, so that's something else to consider if you're looking fora long-term opportunity.

Pros

Good Compensation, Bright co-workers, Good Product

Cons

Long Hours, Location, Company Culture can be a little unsettling, sense of competition which I disliked. It's easy to feel trapped in an Epic bubble especially as you go out... everyone in Madison knows what Epic is and treats as such. There isn't much sense of upward mobility.

Pros

great soft skills-building experience; hands-on practice managing projects; heavy initial learning curve is good for fresh grads as preparation for career; new hires are generally friendly and outgoing

Cons

your immediate supervisor makes/breaks you and you better get on his/her good side within a week or your time there will be hell; your immediate supervisor does not actually supervise your work and only manages through "feedbacks", which can certainly get twisted through the grapevine; your success depends more on politics/luck than output, so pray for a competent customer team and manager who fights for you; 0 work-life balance, if you have any, you're surely on your way out soon; people don't like working there, everybody starts complaining within a year
