Pros

Good pay (sorta), cool campus, smart, driven coworkers, nice to travel.

Cons

Vague/hidden metrics for promotion, salary bump They lie to you telling you it's "consulting"--it's not. It's IT, I repeat IT. If learning how to work with software sounds cool, go for it. The job is fairly to highly technical.

Pros

Epic has a wonderful campus and outlook as an organization. They are all about bettering the community and environment, which makes you proud to be part of it. The compensation is great for Wisconsin and for anyone just out of college. Furthermore, the experience you attain is highly respected in the marketplace. Madison is an exciting city to live in and the young working population at Epic means that you will make friends immediately. Overall, it is a great starter job but if you're deciding between Investment Banking, go with the latter since the hours will be comparable with greater pay.

Cons

The feedback system is flawed and ultimately it depends on how nice the managers are that you work with so that they will provide good feedback on an elective basis. The hours are the other major problem. You'll be working until the evening then get home and probably handle emails for another hour or two. The same goes for the weekend. There's simply too much to do and not enough time in the day. The work is dynamic and interesting but the volume of it is high.

Pros

I work with brilliant co-workers and and don't have to deal with a lot of politics. We have the opportunity for autonomy and to do meaningful work - I know that I'm improving healthcare and actually helping people and patients every day. It's an atmosphere where we are constantly raising our own bar and nearly everyone rises to the challenge. Generally, people work a lot and work hard because they care. A lot of times, I'll be sitting in a meeting, and look around and think "holy @#$. There are a lot of smart people in this room." I can say with complete confidence that I'm surrounded by the type of people I want to work with.

Cons

It's hard for many new moms to return to Epic. There isn't onsite daycare, and there are not permanent part-time options. For that reason, a number of people end up leaving to either find part-time work or to stay at home with little ones. Others leave to be closer to friends or family who are located elsewhere, since everyone needs to be centrally located in Verona.
