Pros

Good R&D experience across whole development life cycle. Generally working with capable and motivated co-workers. Excellent benefits.

Cons

Ungodly amounts of process and bureaucracy that stifles innovation. Leadership is increasingly digging their heels in on company "culture" at the expense of employee productivity and safety.

Pros

Salaries high if you don’t break down to hourly wage Cafeterias are good when not traveling Young company, easy to make friends

Cons

- Almost no actual managers at the company - folks manage employees in their spare time for no extra pay & have almost no actual power. Their goal is to placate your dissatisfaction with no actual change and get you back to work as quickly as possible - No concern for employee health/safety; covid response was horrendous, encouraging employees to travel for business and personally as cases continued to rise, bringing staff who could easily work remotely back to the office against public health guidance. Even before the pandemic, high stress and long hours, perfectionistic culture cause many employees to develop stress related conditions, substance dependancies, etc - very stingy with benefits (low 401k match, long vesting schedules, low vacation time, limited options for working from home) - long non-compete effectively prevents you from working in (non-clinical) healthcare industry post-epic - very little diversity in perspectives from those in leadership roles; tone deaf/offensive responses to BLM movement - culture of anonymous feedback that affects your salary but may or may not be shared with you is toxic

Pros

Good pay Good culinary Neat campus Meaningful work

Cons

Management refers to us as a "software factory"; it's all about productivity. Extreme inflexibility when it comes to working from home. The response to Covid-19 has been abysmal - Epic dragged its feet allowing people to work from home when recommended by local authorities. Now they are trying to push people back into the office as soon as possible. Response to local school districts starting the school year virtual was that parents should make sure to find childcare so they can return to the office at their scheduled time. Took an email from a parent resource group with 400 survey responses to allow either working part-time or taking a leave of absence, rather than just allowing working from home.
