Really great so far

Pros

I have had a great time with my team and am working on things that are really interesting to me. I came in with interest in Machine Learning, and I expressed that a lot through the hiring process. They listened and put me on a team with that focus!

Cons

Some of the other roles (implementation especially) I know people who get burned out really fast. It seems like your experience here is very dependent on which team you end up on

Pros

Good food and beautiful campus. Lots of flexibility from the day to day. Deadlines don't feel unpleasantly tight, and I'm generally steered towards doing things I care about.

Cons

Not necessarily a con, but something to be aware of - most of my time isn't programming. I spend a lot of time designing UIs, triaging issues, and learning about healthcare. It's a very different experience from my college computer science classes. Also, regardless of your position, you'll probably travel a lot for Epic. The worst thing to say about Epic is likely that it can encourage an unhealthy work life balance, but this is heavily dependent on what team you're on, and what boundaries you choose to set.
