Pros

- Smart, motivated co-workers - Campus is nice, no cubicles but you might share an office - Working on software that has a strong mission - Good health insurance for the Madison area - Annual raise cycle + good pay

Cons

- Still act like a small company when that's no longer the case - Don't feel like you're trusted to use your best judgement when it comes to remote work time - Software developers are treated pretty well, but other roles can be overworked (software developers can also be overworked but communication with your manager about your workload may help avoid that, though your team and the time of year matters)

Pros

Many seductive benefits, good food, 6-figure starting salary as a software dev, moving stipend (although be aware that state taxes will reduce a 15k stipend to under 10k). Relatively ok to be openly LGBTQ.

Cons

Exploits fresh-out-of-college workers with impressive propaganda. Will slowly boil the frog until you're working 70-80 hours a week. This company does a great job of looking like it cares about you, but if that were the case they wouldn't have taken binding arbitration agreements to the Supreme Court. If you decide to work here, plan to leave in about 2 years.

Pros

- The healthcare is probably one of the best you can get in the US - Co-workers are pretty great, havent met anyone that's rubbed me the wrong way - On a general tech industry side, being able to work on things that are not vapid, but something truly helpful and meaningful is exceedingly rare in modern times. You get that here.

Cons

- Theres alot of proprietary tooling that is epic built that you have to use as a dev. This is Internal teams seem to be help to a different standard than everyone else, maybe out of necessity because those teams tend to be smaller, but that means that the tools you have to use to do your job can be frustrating to use or just inadequite. - Judy and her circle are quite peculiar. They also want to do thing their way and keep on trying to force it their way. It feels kinda brainwash-y at times. The most egregious is the work from home policy and the aftermath of the pandemic. Thankfully, vanishingly few actual people you interact with at the company seem to drink the koolaid, but still.
