Pros

The Pros that are listed below are based on work experience in Ericsson USA as a full time employee CANNOT comment on other Ericsson locations / regions Good Place to work if you would like to get a "Foot in the Door" in the field of Telecom Virtually every Operator in the US is their customer , overall you get a pretty good exposure Provide Training Opportunities both in class and on the field Local Project opportunities are also available provided you have good "CONNECTIONS" within the company Compensation and benefits are decent but a bit lower than what some competitors and operators offer Provide work visa and green card sponsorship if required

Cons

The Cons that are listed below are based on work experience in Ericsson USA as a full time employee. CANNOT comment on other Ericsson locations / regions Company prefers to hire lots of fresh grads and foreign workers at lower salaries As many users have mentioned in earlier reviews , there is ABSOLUTELY NO JOB STABILITY in the US offices. Layoffs are quite random, without any prior notice given to the employee. This is horror story for an employee working on a work permit. To make matters worse they notify US Immigration of the layoff within 2 weeks thereby making it harder for the employee to find another job elsewhere Regardless of the financial performance of the company there is an annual 10% REDUCTION IN WORKFORCE . This policy ONLY exists in Ericsson NORTH AMERICA . There is no other Ericsson Region in the WORLD that has such a policy .... Some employees in the company used to call this " WORKIN WITH A GUN TO THE HEAD " . Management calls this "HIGH PERFORMANCE CULTURE" :) Career Opportunities are based on 2 important factors : Your NATIONALITY and WHOM you know in the company :- Some people would call this Professional Nepotism . Although HR will vehemently deny this fact, regretfully this is the ground reality and unfortunately the bitter truth!!!! If you happen to be European, particularly Swedish you can have your job as long as you like !!! The career prospects for them are endless and sky is the limit ! There seems to be a completely different set of standards and guidelines put aside for them. Additionally having " BUDDIES " in management is an absolute requirement if you wish to stay on in the company Once you are in the company its quite tough to get a salary raise. So its imperative to negotiate a good salary upfront at the time of hire In conclusion , Ericsson North America should be viewed as Project Management company and NOT an Engineering company unlike the mothership i.e Ericsson Sweden . The only way an employee have longevity here is if by climbing up the Corporate ladder on the management path. Engineers are merely viewed as "TOOLS" to get the job done , and once the job is done , they are disposed off swiftly

Pros

- The technology this company create/sells is the only thing you could be interested to be here. - Pretty interesting projects. Technical complex project for people that want to learn - Company has no concurrence in NorthAmerica. No one produces what they produce (Chineese companies are banned from USA, so the LTE market is only for Ericsson) - On-site Gym, On-site restos, On-site Daycare (good but really trying to compensate the lack of life-balance and the "always-late" projects' culture)

Cons

The first and most dramatic CON is: - Lot of politics. Like the olf 80s style. Old fashion, at all levels. Really disgusting. Some BU more than others, but exagerated and toxic. - If your style is not to deal with politics, stay away. There are a lot of incompetent people that deals with politics and stay well in this company. The 2nd one: - Advise to new graduates and juniors: If you Join Ericsson, there is a possibility you cannot go out because your skills will be si tight Ericsson's product, and you will value zero in the job market after 5 years. So, if after 1-2 years you do not feel comfortable, two years is the max time to be here; if not your mobility will be in risk, and be forced to remain here forever... (no matter what) The 3rd one: - Internal process is an old and outdated project process that NO ONE follows. (20-something years old project process. Five CEO has passed. No one pushed to update the process -As IBM did with Lou Gestner in the 80s) All the rest, but not less important: - Sales teams in RNAM promess delivery times that are not real, therefore the service teams are forced to work long hours for long months because lack of synch - Project Markets around telco HW is fastly moving to standard Java/web development, therefore small, cheaper service companies could build services faster, cheaper than Ericsson. THis creates a business pressure to justify Ericsson's project costs to the customer, And makling harder to change the "project always late" culture (work work work and you have to forget your life - Culture in RNAM US is like US, dynamic and American way (right to the point, sell, sell, sell, make-it happen no matter what - zero life balance GOOD for the business. Bad for the persona life.

Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to write the reviews. We are constantly striving to improve our internal processes and make them faster and more reliable. As 40% or all world mobile traffic is passing through Ericsson network, all the products that our employees are developing here, have much broader impact outside of our company as well. We believe that this creates a lot of opportunities for experts in the market, especially for your people.

Pros

Good salary and great benefits

Cons

For the role I had: long hours, regularly required to work nights and weekends in addition to office hours, impossible to take paid time off without working, poor work-life balance
