Huge potential, wasted opportunities

- Somewhat flexible working hours - Great work/life balance - No pressure whatsoever - Friendly co-workers

Cons

- Mindgames and politics within the department could steer your whole career in an unpredictable fashion for years - Stale management unfit for the role at their positions for many, many years - Lack of leadership by example, complex and heavy hierarchy involving a lot of corporate overhead - Large-corporation symptoms such as inertia to quick action and innovation - Serious lack of motivation in colleagues that used to be very ambitious and highly-skilled, but all drive was sucked out of them for as short as 10 years time, wearing them out and turning them into corporate drones - Lack of a clear reward system because no matter what you do you are treated as average

Nothing particularly great, I worked in the subtitling department of Ericsson Broadcast and Media services so content could be interesting.

Cons

No learning or development, no budget for professional qualifications, no in-house training. Very poor middle to senior management within the subtitling arm - people who had been bought in when the BBC sold off their department were lacking in soft skills and motivation. Ericsson HR is outsourced - this led to the incorrect salary being quoted to my bank when applying for a mortgage. Ericsson were unable to provide my current employer with proof that I had worked there. I was placed on the wrong tax code since leaving due to Ericsson HR ineptitude, and have been overpaying tax for much of the past financial year. Horrendous company, I had not quite realised how poor the training, opportunities, facilities and services were until I had left and started in a company with none of these issues.
