Expedia is a great place to work, lots of opportunities without being a large corporation.

Pros

The people hear are hands down the best to work with. Motivated, smart, and still have well rounded lives outside Expedia. There are plenty of opportunities within Expedia, folks are encouraged to not just promote to management but also change job functions routinely.

Cons

Inability in our senior management to guide path that stays the same from month to month. Our industry is very instable which can lead to speculation of company problems when there are none.

Pros

Great benefits package (travel, medical, etc). Great stepping stone. If you get on the right team, great relationships can develop.

Cons

Upper management can be unstable and hard to get behind and trust. Employees can often feel undervalued and overworked. Confoundingly, salaries are not competitive with regional/global markets, especially considering Expedia is one of the top in its field.

Pros

The team I work with is quite good and actually give a damn about our product and the customer experience. The chance to work on a high hit website with millions of visitors and view usability studies has been great. Being a MS shop, it has given me a chance to try to work with products that are used world wide.

Cons

No career movement. I could advance faster if I were in the union and waited for people to die in front of me. Ideas rarely come from the bottom up. I would not care if someone above stole my idea and ponied it about as his or her own as long as it actually got done.
