Pros

I can't think of one pro.

Cons

Working at Express Employment Professionals was one of the worst professional experiences of my career. The pay is extremely low, there are no health benefits, and you’re only offered one week of vacation per year. Each office is independently owned and operated, which means there is no centralized HR department to escalate issues to—even serious ones. Expectations and priorities changed on a weekly basis, often without notice. Many franchise owners had no background in staffing, sales, or leadership, which created a chaotic and toxic work environment. I was paid late on five separate occasions, and three times I was issued a paper check without any pay stub. Even after multiple requests, I was never given access to proper pay documentation. Worse, I experienced multiple instances of sexual harassment—from my boss, coworkers, and even temporary associates. There was no safe or confidential way to report these incidents. I was frequently denied lunch breaks and left alone to run the office for hours at a time without support. This company does not value its internal employees. It exploits them, neglects basic workplace protections, and fails to provide even the most minimal structure or respect. I would strongly discourage anyone from working here.

Pros

Recruiter was very helpful and receptive, and he found me a "favorable" job very quickly - Note: none of the issues at the assigned company was in any way the temp agency's fault

Cons

My assignment abruptly ended TWO WEEKS prior to being hired directly on by the company and therefore getting benefits such as paid time off, paid holidays, and most importantly insurance. I couldn't even go to the company's HR about the issues because technically I was an employee of the temp agency, not the assigned company. That General Manager has since moved on from said company, but he was the worst to work for after his niceness wore off and he felt more comfortable being abusive - especially knowing that he had a position of "power," and I needed the job to make money to support myself and my family. Very disgusting behavior.

Pros

-Good exposure to how interviews are conducted, what the job market is like, what recruiters look for in candidates, etc. -Learning what your clients (companies) do with their jobs, and developing strong relations and connections to these contacts in a professional setting -Entry-level, though a bit of a learning curve if it's the first professional job you're getting into

Cons

-Poor management expectations, often leading to feeling unsupported at times or overworked -Numbers-driven (can be good or bad depending on the employee. Some people are motivated by it, some dread it...I'm in the latter, sadly) -Lack of room for growth -Points like these can lead to inconsistency and high turnover in the workplace
