Pros

The job service public PR stance is laudable: Flexible work environment, flexible hours, non binding work contracts. possible track to full time employment, learning on the job. This is what keeps me on as an associate. HOWEVER ................ (please read on)

Cons

(Disclaimer -- not a blanket statemnt of all express offices, just my particular location) As i said, new/prospective applicants beware and do your homework and research concerning this company. Job staff and HR are, more often then not, aloof, insensitive, condescending, and dismissive of associate concerns. Productive, long term associates even in good standing, are not recognized for their effort and loyalty. and receive nothing for their service. You are considered nothing more than an "item on a warehouse shelf" to be used at will and then discarded when not needed. Staff will arbitrarily retaliate, against associates for the slightest/no reason frequently without notice to the associate, who's left bewildered as to what happened. Examples of this would include some but not all of the following: 1. Sudden reduction in the jobs offered. 2. Continued employment of associates with known disciplinary/emotional issues and pairing them up with incompatible co-workers. 3. Negative job reviews to prospective employers to obstruct associates search for full time employment. 4. Favoritism/exclusion on the part of staff responsible for allocation associate to client jobs. Especially if you've communicated notable concerns with company actions and policies . 5. Consistently offering jobs you are a poor fit to, ignoring associate reasons to not be placed in those particular jobs. 6. Glossing over or ignoring client misbehavior characterizing it as your (the associates) problem. 7. Deliberate obfuscation of assignment information to get the "offending" employee to accept the assignment and penalizing then for not accepting/or completing the assignment due to reasons that could've been prevented with the proper/complete information. 8. Indiscriminate hiring policy with minimal/no research into the prospective employees past. As a result, people with suspect/no work work ethic, criminal tendencies, severe emotional/mental issues, or past workplace problems are thrown into the general workplace roster causing problems/conflicts which rob you/and the other associates of a deserved positive work experience.

Pros

Small company atmosphere, flexible in terms of work life balance, close knit team, decent training.

Cons

The associates you have to deal with are just awful. I never knew people could be that idiotic, rude and entitled. You will be extremely over worked and underpaid for all that you are expected to do. Recruiters get paid more than front office, yet front office staff is expected to also help them do their job but will not compensate you accordingly. Lots of preferential treatment or favoritism. Nowhere to go HR wise when there is an issue. You will also get reprimanded for following the rules when it comes to clients and associates, because of course they are always right. They will promise you bonuses for certain tasks being completed and then after you do your end of the bargain they magically forget all about it. They will not do as promised; when you do they will twist the story to make it seem like you did not deserve it even though you literally met your end of the bargain. You are expected to cough up money for all of these work "Team Building" events that they don't pay you enough to even afford, taking unpaid time out of your day. The back office does nothing all day but you so much as breathe for one minute up front and they ask if you need something to do. Stuck doing everyone else's job. Zero respect job. Don't waste your time. You are better than this.
