Pros

15% staff discount, Can be fun if you're on shift with the right people

Cons

I'm working my last shift today and I can honestly say I've never felt so relieved! Started part time as a retail assistant around college last year, loved my job. Had loads of staff and always got on well with everyone in the store. About six months in I was suddenly forced to go to a different store 40 minutes away from home, spent a total of 6 weeks there running shifts as a supervisor which I had never done before in my life and had never been trained for. This also broke my car because of the many miles I racked up, which meant I had to go and buy a new car on finance to be able to keep travelling to this other shop. I then rack up nearly 2000 miles on my brand new car. Constantly told the manager and area manager I wanted to be back in my own store and basically was told to get over it. Then finally got back into my own store and was running shifts as a supervisor every week, still being paid as a sales assistant! Only in January this year I was promoted to supervisor. Was never allowed to take my holidays and even when granted I was then expected to work during my holidays. Would be phoned at 5am saying they needed me in work. Ended up turning my phone off at night just to get them to leave me alone on my days off. Horrible. The place has left me depressed and on the verge of a breakdown! Doing stocktake every Saturday until midnight, sometimes later, and always unpaid after 10pm. NEVER WORK HERE. Also, if you think you can spend time with your family or even take the day off to move house, think again!

Pros

Staff discounts at 15% above other retailers with extreme cheap prices anyway 29p for 500ml DR pepper/ Fanta ext. Company spending thousands on improving stores and training manager development plan created for development staff to management level, introduced graduate scheme to help grow, Higher preforming managers sent on level 5 courses with chartered management institute. the company is growing and updating its systems constantly including performance reviews, bonus schemes for all staff, return to work interviews, cash counting equipment, and looking in to the auto fill system to remove the need to place orders individually and the value of orders do not need to meet a limit anymore.

Cons

Yes there are early hours and some long hours if you don't have the right team in the store. other than that they are a good company to work for, a lot of people complain as the company expect you to give 110% to your work every day and go home tired at the end, they pay your wages and you should give everything to make your store successful, if your not willing to give 100% the company class you as a drainer and you will be managed out of the business.

Pros

Part time hours. Busy shifts & good colleagues.

Cons

No advance notice of a Rota. Overlooked holiday requests. I've never know SO many staff absences in one workplace....possibly due to the stressful working environment.
