Pros

The retail staff are nice, not that you have anytime to smile or even say more than a sentence to them on your shift as the Assistant Manager and Manager hate people smiling.

Cons

- Branch Manager emphasise the importance of being professional however, seems to think it’s professional to raise voice/shout at employees over minor inconveniences. - Branch Manager has worked there for 20 plus years since 16 thus has no understanding that this may not be a career that the young students she employed want to go down. - Assistant Manager has worked there for 10 years since she was a teenager. You’d think working for a company for more than 10 years that your life would get easier. Clearly not the case. She is constantly exhausted and seems like she’s going to have a heart attack while talking to you because of how anxious she is. She’s also lacks professionalism and encourages racial profiling when looking out for thieves. - Retail staff are expected to be full time security guards as well as stock shelves at a ridiculous pace while following health and safety standards. - Branch Manager gets angry if staff seem tired It seems like they expect everyone to dedicate their lives to the company despite being seriously underpaid. I have worked in warehouses where you can withstand the mental pressure from managers because it seems like you’re being fairly compensated. This job is not worth it at all. Especially for management roles. It can be boiled down to the fact that managers make a simple job way harder because they take their anger out on young staff. Managers also take offence when you don’t want to excel in Farmfoods career wise. I’m sorry that I’m smart enough to not slave away from minimum wage and waste my life/potential. If you work at the ilford branch expect to be constantly on edge, belittled and never acknowledged for your good work.
