Pros

Management and staff seem to actually care about the quality of the work. They do move people up, but it can take some time. There are big changes going on now, but in spite of that people are keeping their heads up and being treated with the respect that they deserve. The benefits are better than most, and from what I can tell, the people who didn't make it through the layoffs were treated much better than those at other corporations.

Cons

Shaky, scary economy. But, hang in there, the financial markets have to turn around and then things will be better for everyone.

Pros

Very good name recognition. The company has a strong history of performance. A local Boston-area company that has gone national. The profit sharing plan is excellent (10% of base salary), which is on top of the 7% 401(k) company match. Salaries are competitive to the rest of the job market. Overall, a very good company to work for and one I'm proud to be employed by.

Cons

In downcycles of the market there are often many rounds of layoffs, so job security can be tenuous. Certain depertments can be highly stressful, and the work culture is one where those who stick to a regular 8 hour day are frowned upon.

Pros

Fidelity recognizes individual contribution - hard work pays generally pays off with increased bonuses and profit sharing. It is a large company so you can be pidgeon holed if you don't work hard to expand your sphere of influence. Over the years, Fidelity has tried hard to treat employees fairly.

Cons

It is easy to just come and go and meet the minimum requirements of your job. You'll have stability but will be quickly marginalized as a serious playmaker.
