Pros

Decent Salaries, great bonuses, great benefits, insane 401k matching, and generally fun coworkers. Fidelity tries to figure out what makes their employees happy - for example they recently started helping with student loans which was incredible. Certain teams have great dynamics and click really well with each other. There's a ton of diversity, so you get interesting perspectives from everyone.

Cons

They tend to promote people based on who has the loudest mouth. They also have a streak of hiring incompetent people and then moving them around instead of firing them. There are politics abound in most of the upper management and they try to obfuscate everything from lower employees. It is difficult to move around in Fidelity. I tried several moves, but kept getting blocked so I ended up leaving.

Pros

The office is pretty nice

Cons

Other people get credit for your work, there is a high level of favoritism which leads to you missing out on opportunities and getting in trouble for things that the favorites do not. Your voice is not heard, you will work incredibly hard but not get credit, and be told you are not putting in the work. Management also does not believe you when you say things nor provide support when you have issues if you are not a favorite or someone that reports all activity. There is a lot of throwing people under the bus and micromanaging to move up in the company, which makes the trust in a team non existent and gives you constant feeling of job insecurity. You will work on projects but get removed and lose all credit. Not a healthy environment. If you would like to move up in the company they have a grade level system. You may have the experience, but if it is a higher grade level than your current one, there is a high chance you will not be given the opportunity to even interview, as they look at the grade level 1st thing. The benefits are not that great, they are average. Many people will say they are incredible, but it is people who have only ever worked at Fidelity, so they don't know that better benefits packages do exist. The salary here is also awful regardless of how much experience you have. They basically say that the salary is good because you get to work for Fidelity. If you look at the average salary for your experience, national salary, local salary, the location, ertc, then bring to the table, they will still say no.

Pros

Great benefits Great people Steady career advancement Flourishing community They will train you They will give you all you need to develop (tools, mentoring, sponsorship, etc) Work from home Travel to different destinations Paid conferences Hackathons Ship-It Days Fidelity TV (watch hundreds of TEDx talks, presentations, and conferences from influential and successful people) - some of these you won't see anywhere else but at Fidelity) FCat library gives you access to paper and electronic books (Safari books including) Many talented technologists Fidelity Cares Gym, massage, doctor, cafeteeria on-site I can't list everything. Seriously. They are good!

Cons

My career was going well but unfortunately it took a sharp turn. Company motto "Turn here" did not really work well for me. I had bullies on my team including my senior manager who was plain incompetent. I had to leave because every day there became a terror. Mobbing and bullying would not stop after talking to my immediate manager. HR did not care when I reported unethical conduct. They told me I needed a good sense of humor. However, you will agree that being called jerk and hearing jokes about your nationality every day is not fun.
