Pros

- Good office location - Small teams

Cons

- No focus on quality engineering - No focus on building a great product, only on finding new ways to suck money out of the users - Slowly outsourcing all engineers to Manilla - Terrible pay - No stock for employees

Pros

- as an engineer you learn the latest tech trends but you don't get to apply them - few smart people in the office

Cons

- Very low salary, no formal appraisal or bonuses process except for selected people without any formal basis - The worst company culture I have ever seen, a lot of internal office politics, conversations behind closed doors, and people talking about each other behind their backs - no work/life balance, they expect you to work for very long hours without any compensation - senior management is very corrupt and incompetent, one of the managers is a pathological liar, he tells lies just to cover his back even if that means he has to hurt other people - culture and values? no ethics whatsoever, the CEO's only value is "more money" and he does not care about anything except increasing his wealth, this mentality is projected over everyone else in the company as they just think about themselves and how to survive in this "jungle" where strong attacks the weak - the HR team is a joke, they are useless, they turn a blind eye to all the bad things happening in the company, they think a good culture is about providing pizza or some drinks to the employees, they are part of this corrupt system and they don't care about anything happening

Pros

Good opportunity to build systems which affect lots of users. You are surrounded with lots of intelligent people. Good location.

Cons

Very complex and messy technology stack. Excessive pressure to 'get things up and running' quickly as opposed to getting things done correctly. Freelancer.com is forced to hire an ever increasing number of engineers to manage the growing mess that is GaF (the core of Freelancer.com) and the enormous amount of unnecessary complexity all around it. There is a nasty culture of finger-pointing, blaming and scapegoating - Everyone is expected to 'take ownership' of some part of the code instead of solving problems as a team using rational constructive debate. Employee retention is very low - Very few people stay for longer than 2 years.
