Pros

Good experience New employees usually given option to choose where to work Flexible hours/work from home allowances Ping pong and foosball table

Cons

Clique-y product and management team, general disregard for engineers. Difficult to change position once you've started. Limited opportunities for promotion, senior eng's/team leads are often paid the same as general engineers, at least for the first few years in their role. Low pay ceiling - expect 70k until (well after) promotion, which may take 3+ years. PMs usually promoted within 6 months or so. Dwindling number of engineers in Sydney, but growing overseas where employment is cheaper. General priority of managers seems to be growth hacking and producing product videos. Limited opportunity to create solid code and write tests - PMs usually instruct engineers to cut corners if it will speed up the release of the product.

Pros

- As an engineer, Freelancer is big enough to solve interesting problems at scale, but nimble enough for you to make a huge impact. - You get to work with really smart people, that are all really motivated to do great things. - The best idea really does win. It's a flat organisation structure and you can communicate your ideas quite openly and have discussions where the whole company gets involved.

Cons

- Struggling to think of any

Pros

A very fast paced work environment with lots of opportunities to be creative and use new technology. Once you have earned trust and respect your options open up a lot. Lots of perks onsite if you want them: food, gym, hardware. Can make a big impact and make large-scale culture and technology change if you know how to approach it.

Cons

Need to demonstrate capability and speak up if you end up on boring or legacy work. Very high churn rate of employees, especially those in probation period. Poor interview process but being refined.
