Pros

So many great people intelligent people attracted to a brand that promotes itself as an employer of choice. People are generally great but drowning.

Cons

There is so much about this company that is manufactured. People are encouraged to put on good reviews. It has a huge turnover rate. The leadership is absolutely appalling. It's run by human robots that only care about numbers. If a family member is sick, or worse, and you don’t meet numbers, goodbye. Targets seem reasonable until you realise half of your territory will not renew and you have to replace this every year, and it’s all about your territory. Hard work and late nights will not fix this. Delivery is average at best as Gartner tries to automate everything. They spy on you through the tools you use. They say high performance means 130% to ridiculous targets. It’s not high performance, it's a big stick. They target younger people and hammer them into practices that border on abuse. An AE for example has has to over deliver, fix service issues, collect outstanding invoices, create huge amounts of PowerPoints and be subjected to incompetent managers that haven't sold anything in years but pretend to be coaches. The goal is to get a VP role and then you are apparently untouchable. But there are none of these jobs unless you are in the club. Your diary will be filled with internal meetings to justify these managers existence, so you won’t have time to succeed. Burnout is extremely high here and HR are completely useless, focussed on entry and exit of countless people to serve their masters. So many people have alcohol and drug problems from working here. This place is only for snakes who thrive on doing anything at any cost to get recognised by people who don’t care about how you get the numbers, only that you do, so they get their reward. They promote work life balance as if its an amazing new thing they have created,! But you do not get this as the work load is far too high.. I have softened this review.

Pros

- People are nice for the most part. - No one will stop you if you decide to quit. They literally don't care who comes and goes for some reason...

Cons

Product: - 90% of the research is low quality, "refreshed", or extremely dated. - Your company could save money by simply going to Wikipedia (unless it's about vendor information, which could be helpful.) Career: - good luck on that. Basically, there isn't any unless you wait a really really long time and other people leave. Also, as is true of human nature, favoritism runs rampant. - They don't actually provide training like they used to. Everything has become DIY, and has nothing to do with your role - the only training is for how to get clients to come back for more research or how to work with sales. - They also record every client interaction and provide that to anyone in research/advisory can listen and watch and "train" yourself by listening to others. Most don't know they are being recorded. Culture: - its a "yes-man", kool-aid culture with fairly high attrition...people leave because they want real opportunities, paid market salary or better, or all the above. - everything is geared towards sales - even if you aren't in sales. Every interaction we have is supposed to create more sales and they encourage constant back-channel conversations with sales.

Pros

The analysts and access to CIOs is good but saldy thats it. Pay is far better elsewhere.

Cons

Just left after 4 years in the commercial team. Gartner is a dangerous place if diversity or women’s equality interests you. Google 'Frances Fricker' and their recent loss in court for sexual harassment and constructive dismissal. The main guilty male was allowed resign and paid off, everyone else named in the judgement (available on the internet) stills works at Gartner. Gartner HR are there to try destroy anyone who challenges anything, if you have any morals you should avoid Gartner. Gartner will probably respond to this saying they have an open and inclusive policy. That’s just a lie, question anything and you get thrown out. That’s the sad part. Gartner needs to change but they won’t.
