Pros

Good work life balance, benefits & paid family leave.

Cons

Gartner doesn’t care about people — period. They move employees into new roles without so much as a conversation, then immediately set them up to fail with impossible performance expectations after just 90 days. I watched myself and colleagues get blindsided, humiliated, and dragged through sham “performance plans” that were never about improvement. Even after doing everything asked of me and hitting the metrics, they fired me anyway. This company hides its financial problems by pretending these are performance issues. Instead of being honest and doing real layoffs, they manipulate numbers, gaslight employees into thinking they’re not good enough, and destroy people’s confidence. It’s cruel. It’s calculated. And it’s disgusting. Working here was one of the most dehumanizing experiences of my career. The constant fear, the manufactured failure, the dishonesty from leadership — it’s a machine designed to use you up and spit you out. They don’t value your work, your mental health, or even your dignity. If you want to feel belittled, disposable, and lied to, Gartner is the place. If you want honesty, respect, or a chance to succeed, don’t go to Gartner.

Pros

The other analysts. They are brilliant, helpful, and good friends. The ability to collaborate on cutting edge topics. The wonderful customers not only want to listen, but have great feedback as well. It is truly a two way communication and learning experience with customers (both end-user and vendors).

Cons

The quality of life that was a major factor to attract and retain talent is now non-existent, especially in research among the analysts. Many analysts are either leaving or making plans to do so. Others are out on sick leave due to fatigue. The willingness to help others is wavering due to 60-70 hour work weeks.

Pros

Some really interesting people work at Gartner, and you can generally engage with them quite easily. Clients are really open with you about their business and even personal objectives.

Cons

It's really pretty shocking how sexist and racist Gartner really is, people openly make jokes about how women look, and there are almost NO people of colour working in Gartner, and none at the leadership level. The only senior woman, is, you guessed it, HR. They don't even try and camouflage it like most dinosaur companies do, they just don't care at all. It's like they have some secret pass or something. Customers are just an annoyance, there is absolutely no understanding or appreciation of Customer Experience at all, at any level. Mid level leadership is immature, petulant, and frequently quite abusive.
