Staff flow, lack of opportunities.

Pros

Not much that I would recall. Probably the communication with the direct line manager and some of the colleagues was very good - but that was not thanks to the company policies and culture, but rather had to do with personal qualities of the people working there.

Cons

Too many to mention: while the directors were with their heads in the clouds only looking and seeing sales figures - the daily operations staff had pretty bad working conditions combined with a very low pay. Too many tasks being pushed to the staff rather than taking the appropriate numbers of personnel. Most of the people with extremely good professional qualities leaving the company due to complete lack of a professional development path or career opportunities.

Pros

Outside Sales - You are able to work on your own without being micromanaged. The team is helpful and nice.

Cons

Since acquisition of GSO, the company has been doing a major overhaul. Executives with no industry experience are being brought in to "boost" the bottom line, however, know very little about the business. Be prepared to be let go if you do not have an incredible amount of sales in less than 6 months. Most in the industry understand that this is not an instant signup, one call close. These things take time. This is not the outlook of new executives at operations apparently. The company footprint is very limited, the Western US. They are not willing to discount their rates enough to win business. Businesses are not motivated to get on board. They are just employees and making that big of a change is not priority. It's a tough sell. You'll need to find companies that are willing to split up their shipments, losing their discounts with the major carriers so that they can save on a very small portion of West. I've been in contact with over a thousand businesses and it's just not a product that companies want to transition into unless their business is largely the West. FEDEX / UPS have basically eating each other up when it comes to pricing. It was extremely challenging to even come close to matching / beating rates. There are a lot of holes here and I don't see this as a career move. Been in outside and inside sales for about 15 years.
