Sinking ship

Pros

The people are great. The benefits and pay are top-notch.

Cons

This company is a sinking ship. Layoffs after layoffs after layoffs. The new CTO and his friends came in and laid off the top performers to promote their friends. There is no product direction, no vision, and all the products are half-baked. I was suprised to see a good review from a GTM person here - I'm not on that team but they are complaining ALL the time ( I guess we are losing customers all over the place). A merge with indeed seems imminent.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Good People is one of our values so I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the people at Glassdoor. I'm also glad to hear you're appreciative of our commitment to providing a competitive Total Rewards package. I'm sorry to hear you are not feeling aligned with our company's direction. We've been through a lot of change over the last few years and change can be hard. We appreciate your dedication and commitment during this time of transition. I can honestly say that in my 9 years at Glassdoor, I have never been more excited about our vision and product direction as we transform to a community for workplace conversations. Our mission at Glassdoor has always been to help everyone find a job they love, especially our own employees. I'd encourage you to discuss your concerns with your manager. My (virtual) door is always open to you as well. It's important you feel connected with the direction we're headed. Best, Christian Sutherland-Wong, Chief Executive Officer

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Your perspective is important to us, positive or critical, as it helps us continually improve. Regarding our executive leadership, we understand that leadership styles and decisions can impact the work environment. We are committed to fostering a culture of open communication, accountability, and most importantly, transparency within our company. As I meet with other Chief People Officers, they continue to be impressed with how much we share with our workforce including our business metrics, salary information, and more. Transparency builds equity with employees and is a key foundational element of diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts which is one of the reasons I chose to join the Glassdoor team. Regarding your mention of our ownership by Recruit Holdings, we want to assure you that our parent company's values align closely with Glassdoor’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and employee satisfaction. Glassdoor has always been encouraged to operate in most aspects of our business as an independent entity and Recruit has always supported our strategic direction. If you would like to have a deeper dialogue, feel free to contact me directly. I look forward to the discussion. - Danny Guillory, Chief People Officer

Thank you for taking the time to provide this review, we really do appreciate it. I agree there are a bunch of great people here which makes working at Glassdoor a lot more fun and rewarding. Your point about compensation isn't wrong, but personally, I feel that that is more than made up for by a really healthy work/life balance and being able to work on broad, impactful projects. Employee growth is also something that we do encourage, but generally, we do lean on the employee to lead this; perhaps we should be more explicit and encouraging about training/educational opportunities and options for lateral moves around the company to get experience. Thanks again for your feedback! - Tony Hawke, Director of Engineering
