Pros

- Engineers were always friendly and collaborative - Very fair compensation across the board - Flexible work schedules and vacation/holidays

Cons

- Mid-level leaders are just information conduits instead of vision/strategy drivers - Confusing and ever changing direction from the top - Engineering is a downstream partner of Product as opposed to being an equal partner - A very outdated engineering culture for both development and advancement amongst the group

Thank you for your review, I also really value how friendly and collaborative everyone in engineering is, and the healthy emphasis on work-life balance (including generous vacation time!). I think your point about some confusion from the top is not totally unwarranted, we are going through a period of big changes as we pivot into new areas, but there is always transparency from all levels on what our end goal is, and the higher level plan to get there. The Product Org is leading that change. So in Engineering, we do follow their lead on features, but in my experience, we are One Team and equal partners. Please know we will do more in the future to ensure you feel your voice is heard in Engineering. Thanks - Tony Hawke, Director of Engineering

Pros

The work being done here matters to the larger world.

Cons

Some engineering leaders care more about shipping the absolute bare minimum as fast as possible and hitting arbitrary, poorly-defined milestones than they do about listening to anyone with ideas or opinions which differ from their own. Quality is an afterthought. No time is allowed for substantive, cross-discipline collaboration. And some engineers/managers are more inclined to rewrite their coworkers' code to match their own ideas for how to do things, less inclined to accept when something isn't "perfect," and disinclined to work together to define clearer definitions of done. Yet they expect others to wrap up as soon as something is good enough and chuck it over the fence to others without regard. This is one of many double standards. Things used to be much more collaborative here. What changed? When did people stop caring what others think?

Thank you for your feedback and for leveraging our platform to provide it. I agree that quality should never be an afterthought. We should never compromise on quality. In fact, as you know We Build Quality is one of our principles and we should be doing all we can to ensure we are living by our engineering standards. To the extent you are comfortable, I would recommend leveraging one the of the many channels we have for surfacing your feedback in more detail. Those channels include engineering huddles, engineering slack, skip level meetings with people above you manager including a meeting with me. Thanks again! Hope we address these concerns soon. - Rodrigo Oliveira, Chief Technology Officer

Pros

Glassdoor is by far the MOST welcoming and people-focused organization I've had the pleasure of working with. The top things I've noticed is the quality leadership and how they help you grow as an employee while also assisting you in stepping out of your comfort zone.

Cons

I don't have any cons for this company.
