Still a decent job in 2023

Pros

Yes, Google is not the same as it is 7, 8 years ago. Yes, it probably doesn't pay at the top percentile of the industry anymore. But is it still a decent job with fairly decent work-life balance and benefits. Yes.

Cons

Just like any other big corporations, Google can be bogged down by process and bureaucracy, but compared to any other corporations at the same scale, I would say Google is probably the least bureaucratic.

Pros

Amazing benefits Super smart, motivated, and kind people Incredible impact (most products are literally used by billions of people) Opportunity to see others' incredibly thoughtful and skilled work

Cons

Very slow moving due to need for many approvals It can be exhausting to keep obsessing over the same details for months or years on end
