Pros

- Amazing environment to work at. - Impact on the product. As a software engineer, you get to make certain product decisions that usually a PM does. You are also involved in some product meetings, which allows you to bring new ideas to the table and pursue them. - Stable workplace. Google does not rush into firing week developers. They are given a chance to improve with guidance and a lot of time for that.

Cons

- Not all the jobs in Google are excited. - Burnout - Many engineers quickly get to the point where they get board by their job.

Cons

Bad experiences so far * Reorgs from "ambitious" new leadership is almost a constant. * Went from an open and sharing culture to a more traditional company with corpspeak from leadership when addressing vital issues over the last few years.

Pros

Work culture is excellent, perks + benefits + compensation are top notch.

Cons

The tech island is real, and development often feels slow and hindered by bureaucracy. I also feel that Google is anti-competition and anti-regulation and I don't always feel good about that. I hope the Alphabet Workers Union (AWU) will push the needle.
