Pros

Incredible educational opportunities, regular tech talks and other information sessions. Colleagues are some of the brightest people around. There's also a certain prestige attached with working at Google and you may find your next job easier to get just having had worked there, although the culture makes it such that people straight out of college never want to leave since the perks are so good and they are pampered.

Cons

Lack of proper management, managers don't really care about employees and seem to have just gotten their jobs because they were there rather than showing any competence at actual managing. Competition between workers sometimes strains work-life balance as most are young twenty-somethings with no family to worry about or take care of - although this may change in the future, most older Googlers tend to leave instead of sticking around that environment.

Pros

1) Bright, motivated colleagues. Willingness to change and try new things. Low barriers to trying new methods. 2) Ave to High Total Compensation, particularly when benchmarked against competitors like msft, cisco, etc. (base+ind bonus_+ co bonus). Low base, balanced by other compensation. 3) Collaborative and at least, striving to be ethical, culture 4) Great perks, free gormet food, low cost massage, excellent heathcare, top 401k match, guest speakers

Cons

1) Work-aholics. Motivated employees driven to work long hours (65hrs+ per week) 2) Little opportunity for positional advancement, given flat corp culture 3) Poor managers. Philosophy is to hire great people that don't need mgmt. Need to be comfortable acting without much guidance. Little formal training. 4) Can be difficult for folks that like structure, or can't adapt to be fast paced, ever changing culture, ever changing managers....etc. 5) Helpful to be outgoing, networker...

Pros

It's a fast-paced environment where employees have a good deal of flexibility on projects they want to work on. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. It seemed like there was a good work-life balance throughout the organization. One thing that was clear was that senior management significantly valued their employees and took every step to take care of them. For example, there were free breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. During the summer, we were taken on a beach trip to Santa Cruz. Overall, it was a fun work environment.

Cons

Google is a very engineering-driven organization. At times, it seems like there are a multitude of different projects going on with very limited business coordination.
