Pros

Very friendly culture, incredible access to practically all of company information, great people to work with and learn from. With thousands of users every second, almost nothing is trivial, so work tends to never be boring. The work process is very professional. Of course, just getting to build stuff on Google's awesome infrastructure (both hw and sw) might also be considered to be interesting :)

Cons

Well, my salary is not particularly high.. Some of the perks listed are just subsidized, and some are not even that. Also, there seems to be a slight trend toward money-oriented decision making, slowly eroding Google's 'Googliness' factor.

Pros

If you are an engineer, it's wonderful. The place is built by engineers, for engineers. The company's rules, structure and processes usually make sense, and when when they don't, anyone can fix them, if they can get enough people to reach a consensus. Promotions sometimes seem very difficult - but well earned, and very fair.

Cons

They don't suffer fools. If you move into an area that is not your strength, you can be penalised - a move from engineering to project management might take someone six months to get up to speed. In that time, they may be given only "adequate" performance reviews. All companies have 'dull jobs' that are hard to automate. Google only hire 'best and brightest', which means some people can be really bored.

Pros

Free Food !!! Great people. It feels like staying in college if you are a bottom employee (foosball tournament, PS3, Wii...). You can learn so much from the company and others because everybody is talented. Very fast moving environment. It is a meritocracy, if you are good, you will be recognized and remunerated. You will work in the most international environment possible with colleagues from all around the globe.

Cons

You will not have any career opportunities within the company. The task for the new graduates are pretty boring on the long term. It is almost impossible to move from an office to another, so don't expect to come back to your country if you are an expatriate. You will only meet graduates from the best schools because Google only hire in some colleges, no real background diversity.
