Pros
Great perks (if only we had the time to use them...)
Cons
Work from home is not allowed more than once a fortnight. We were so overworked and so stressed no one had any time to use any of the perks. What's the point of free food and on site massages and free yoga classes if you have no time to eat and skip lunch to eat at your desk, and no time for anything else because you are pulling 16 hour days only to get a "meets expectations" and effectively be told you're not good enough. Engineering at Google may be great but let me tell you that's not the case in Sales. Turnover is super high (I saw many people leave) and managers only care about you achieving MINIMUM 150% of your targets plus multiple side projects in order to have acceptable performance. What's the point of setting sales targets if the unwritten rule is that you need to reach minimum of 150% of your targets and if you only reach 120% or less you will be on track to get fired. True story. Corporate rat race. Absolute hell. Join Google for engineering but please stay away from the Sales teams unless you want to work from 6am to 11pm and weekends on a regular every day basis. As my mentor told me "If you want a 9-6 job, Google is not for you. You will not get anywhere at Google unless you put in 16 hour days". So I left.
