Pros

Benefits, coworkers, learning opportunities, 3 day work weeks

Cons

LPN Med/Surg - Springfield, TN This company blatantly protected h0mophobia, transph0bia, religious discrimination, s3xist, and ableist behavior at the hands of its Med Surg DON. This company also denied me my labor union representative, which is illegal. When I went to HR about my concerns about my DON being discriminatory the first time, they protected him. When I went to HR about my concerns the second time, with a labor union rep, I was denied access to HR completely. When I contacted the Ethics line about my concerns, I was told that unless I gave names for my coworkers, they couldn't do anything despite screenshots and proof being submitted. On multiple occasions, my DON personally attacked my s3xual 0rientation, autism, atheist beliefs, and made s3xist decisions that affected me and my other female coworkers, yet I was the one who was punished with being forced out of the company. This company also continuously disregards safe ratios and puts its employees at risk constantly. Typical ratios for med surg at this hospital is 1:6 regardless of acuity. When you stand up for yourself and your license based on safety, you are threatened by management. Please, if you are anything other than a typical wh!te man, do not work for this hospital. They do not care about you and they will not protect you. Their Ethics department is a joke. Their management is a joke. They would rather lose you than work with you, even though they are grossly understaffed. High Turnover!

HCA - IT Employee

Pros

I was able to gain exposure and experience to IT services and technology that I prob would not have received elsewhere. Flexible work arrangement; no micro management.

Cons

Perks - if you are looking for Google-style benefits, move on. HCA is a no-frills workplace. Whatever perks there are, go to the clinicians. HCA (I worked for a Division in Texas) is CHEAP - annual 'merit' raises are only 2% (3% was the max but we all joked that it wasn't worth the selling of our souls for an additional 1%). On Call Support: You are always expected to be on-call; you could be an outstanding worker during 8-5 but if you incur any issues after hours, you are on the hook. No compensation for on-call b/c HCA is CHEAP with its IT employees. Leadership: My Division leaders all were inbred within IT; they started off as a Tech, Operator, Maintenance Guy, Receptionist, etc and just remained with HCA over the many years. Eventually they morphed into manager, director, etc. Few are hired from outside HCA and other industries, so very little, different outlook on approach, problem solving, etc. It would be common for someone very qualified and educated to be reporting to someone who had fallen into their current, leadership role; that leadership person likely started as a temp, worked in the cafeteria, etc and never went to college - now they are a director or even C-level employee. Leadership is very cliquish; if you don't go to the lame happy hours, and weekend events, you were on the outside. Annual Christmas bonus=$25 gift card - because HCA is cheap. Rewards for significant projects: None except for the very few times where the IT director stated we would have a potluck. Nashville CIO is a blowhard and often talked down to us worker-bees. Healthcare benefits are surprisingly costly. Note: I wanted to really 'Like' my former company, but this review has all been cathartic. I now realize that I don't miss any of my time at HCA and am much happier now.

Pros

Some employees were nice enough.

Cons

Worst culture I’ve experienced in my career. From the director down. Multiple MDs complained about her because she’s awful but HCA and their Wokeness refuse to fire her because she’s checks a quota. Everyone is either openly or passively hostile to one another. Many weaponize HR to get people fired because they don’t like them or just for their amusement. This is one of those places that just needs to be gutted and rebuilt from the bottom up. Turnover is frequent but those who do stay complain constantly about the place and openly admit they only stay for the money. People are hired based on the DEI agenda, not for common sense and competence, and it’s painful evident but no one dare say again these days
