Pros

Good environment to, but you must have luck to take a good manager. You can plan your carreer and there is a lot of trainning. There is a huge difference between the projects behaviour if it is a project for the front office or the back office.

Cons

The HR lives in another world and do not expect more than 5% increase in your income. It's the determined roof! The processes are unconnected and it's common to find someone that will make really complicated simple things. It works with ancient technology and the HR have agreements between them to block you from going to another jobs. The HR process also can take very a long time to happen, and as result resources are lost to another companies.

Pros

- flexible working, able to work from home once if not twice a week. Able to buy & sell holiday entitlement. - good pension scheme - relaxed working environment - less redundancies than other banks - most colleagues tend to be friendly

Cons

- career progression can be extremely difficult, hard workers don't seem to be rewarded accordingly. Much a case of 'who's best friends with the boss'. - bonuses around 8-10% for above average yearly performance. - payrises can be paltry some years (try £100 annual payrise!) - training has been an issue, external training budget non existent - senior management don't seem to care too much about those who actually do the work

Pros

Compensation and Benefits, work/life balance

Cons

excessive bureaucracy. managers use the power they have in their own benefit instead of thinking about the company. For instance, if a manager can do something that brings results today (and some kind of bonus for him) he will do, even if this action cause problems in the mid-term for the bank.
