Pros

It pays well, issues bonuses, excellent health scheme and you get to work with some truly excellent people. LGBTQIA inclusive. More 'work from home' friendly post Covid. Opportunity to work anywhere in the world.

Cons

An extraordinarily difficult organisation, the culture is 'grin and bear it'; workload is a huge encroachment into personal life; isn't a dynamic work environment, processes and procedures mostly excruciating to navigate. Elements of 'boys club'.

Pros

- Global exposure and scope of projects - HSBC University

Cons

- Heavily bureaucratic, constant restructuring. - Siloed and very negative working culture. - Maternity / paternity leave will impact career negatively. - Wastes resources, line management lacking direction. - Vast majority of employees have only worked for HSBC (can be +/-). - Cumbersome and slow moving, size of organisation gets in its way. - Behind the times in terms of marketing aptitude / experimentation. - Extensively reliant on external agencies to do bulk of work which limits employee scope to project management. - Incredibly poor line management. - Poor progression opportunities.
