Great people to work with. However bureaucracy makes everyday work and process ridiculously difficult.
Pros
Great International present with premier proposition. Communication with other HBSC team accross the globe is easy. Easy job transfers within HSBC group (from 1 country to another)
Cons
Recent years, tighten policies and procedures which makes everyday work is increasingly difficult. Introducing a lot of new process which a lot of times not logical and very bureaucratic, making every single task is hard to complete. No cohesive working process, every single task needs a follow up which leads to unnecessary stress. Contradicting strategy between department due to lack of communication between team, ie: one department introduce new initiatives and procedure, however another team will stop this new initiatives due to another reason. Although salary maybe higher than other banks, however due to overtime spent during work, it works out that hourly rate is lower compared to similar position in other bank. Incentives aren't great for sales team, very hard to get unless meeting all your sales target and behavioural component (which is very very very subjective, depending how good you are with your boss). That goes to prove that doesn't matter you have met your sales target, if your relationship with your boss is not good, he/she can give excuses not giving you incentive due to your behaviour. That is so unfair. All in All, as one of a client said about HSBC, How Simple Becomes Complicated, I thought this is really true.
