Pros

Fun loving company. Lots of events. Best company if you want money with no work. Work life balance depends on project and manager. Weekend working not encouraged by many managers. Hikes and annual variable pay is good.

Cons

Techies - pls dont join hsbc. You will forget your technical skills if you stay here for a year. Initial stage of projects is taken very lightly and in later stages everyone has to work extra hours. Very less onsite opportunites. Visa gets rejected for software engineers as onsite allowance+salary total does not meet the UK government's minimum salary to survive. Onsite allowance not revised since 2007. Technically very less work. Process and environments take up a lot time. Lot of hierarchy which is not actually required. There is no single point of contact who knows end to end of any project. Contract to hire has spread its root because of hsbc group's CEO. Company does not care if any employee is willing to leave hsbc. He is immediately replaced by a contract employee. Attrition rate is very high.
