Pros

Hikes better than service based organisations

Cons

Managers are promoted just due to their number of experience with minimal skills Employees are forced to sit on desk and managers are not open to allow the team to learn new skills saying it is irrelevant for the project. Constant monitoring of on desk hours as they have sapient tool installed on every system. WFH is there in policy but manager will never allow to take it mostly. Managers do not have managerial skills and will say my team my rules in the meeting. They feel as if employees are working for him and not HSBC. Hire and fire policy in HSBC.

Pros

Well as far as IT/software department Australia is concerned nothing other than brand name. Please don't join this place if you have any other option.

Cons

This reviews is specific to IT department of HSBC Australia.Worked there for a year almost and that too because it was my first job in Australia.I would have given a negative rating if possible but unfortunately glassdoor doesn't allow that. It really difficult to put all the cons here coz thats only what is there in the software development/IT division. 1)Huge disconnect between business and IT , business treats developers as slaves . 2)Filled with incompetent and helicopter Managers (these are people who hover above your head all time asking for updates and see what you are doing ie when you are coming in , what time you are going , how many breaks you are taking etc, who have been with organisation for many years and don't know anything else other than micromanaging. 3) Too much of open nepotism and its openly celebrated.E.g if someone who has a big mouth and a boot licker will easily get into good books of the Management or business .So if someone in the above category gives an update in stand up days after days I don't know what i did yesterday , today i am not sure what I am supposed to do it perfectly acceptable and no one questions but if you don't fall into that category where you would be ask to update what you did on a hour by hour basis, it happened to one of my friends there not with me.
