Pros

Henry Schein is the largest company on Long Island that offers a reasonable work-life balance. Your job is pretty secure unless you get on the bad side of an executive.

Cons

There are very limited advancement opportunities with only a handful of "chosen ones" that get promoted. The leaders of the organization have a tendency to maintain status quo when there are issues by telling you what you want to hear, and then taking no action. No matter how stellar your annual review is, you will most likely receive a 2.5% raise. If you are a motivated, intelligent and hard working individual who wants a defined career path, HS is not the company for you. But if you want to do the same thing every day, do not want to be challenged, and become a "lifer," you should apply.

Everything depends on your manager

Pros

Hours are solid and depending on department there are some really good people to work with. Pay is pretty good compared to other LI companies. 401K is a good deal (100% to 7%). Vacation time is good as well and not very difficult to take your earned time.

Cons

Health insurance has been deteriorating, though it's still decent. Many promotions happen for people based on length of service or other factors not related to performance and knowledge. Annual merits have been weak for many years despite company growth. No stock options until you reach Director level. Executive compensation grows 20% a year while employees grow at <3%.

Very outdated, inflexible company. Their only concern is the bottom line.

Pros

Employees are a great group of people for the most part. TSMs consider each other family. Large company on Long Island.

Cons

Low pay for a lot of responsibility. Upper management unconcerned with employees. Inflexible company. No work/life balance. Unwilling to make changes to make employees happier and more satisfied.
