Pros

Large company with a wealth of resources

Cons

Working for or with Honeywell is a detriment to your health. Honeywell makes its money on acquisitions - they buy up profitable companies, consolidate and outsource jobs, steal their technologies, move to the next company and repeat...They report a profitable bottom line from the acquisitions, but internally they are cutting benefits, scrutinizing every minute expense, shutting down facilities and laying off employees. Honeywell absolutely does not care about its employees. They do not promote anyone to a manager without a Bachelors degree and director level promotions require a Masters degree. It's an unwritten rule, but they write their job descriptions to rule out people they don't want. As a result, employees with tenure from acquired companies are often overlooked and discarded. Employees are expected to work long hours, with unrealistic expectations/metrics, and are stressed to the max because of the workloads and demands. These expectations are not limited to their employees, but also to vendors that work for them and want their business. If you're looking for work-life balance, this is NOT the company for you.

Pros

Back in the day, over a decade ago now, UOP used to be a fantastic company to work for.

Cons

However, since the Honeywell takeover in 2005, Honeywell has slowly squeezed the lifeblood out of UOP. If you are considering working for UOP, please note that their workload swings every few years from extreme highs of 190% capacity down to extreme lows of 30% capacity. Please don't waste your valuable time applying to UOP, a company who once cared greatly for its employees and treated them like family... now managed by Honeywell, a company who cares only for itself.
