Pros

Exposure to/dealings with lots of Fortune 500-level companies as customers (worldwide actually), opportunity for experience with many major enterprise technologies (IBM's and other proprietary vendors, as well as open source): DB2, WebSphere, Eclipse, AIX, ClearCase, etc.

Cons

Fairly bureaucratic. The customer focus mandated from top management means that technological innovation is considered less important, despite company lip service to "innovation jams" and the like. Sometimes innovation seems to be a non-goal, other than for frequent reminders to file for patents.
