Pros

* Opportunities to expand knowledge and skills in leading edge technologies * Promotes imaginative and innovative thinking * Flexible work schedule * Variety of family hr programs

Cons

* IBM's top priority is MONEY - at the cost of their employees - IBM has turned cheap on it's employees * Classroom Education has essentially demolished - most all classes are on-line self-study and are very limited in selection and MANY of those require management approval. If you are a programmer and want to take a class at a community college to enhance your skills that directly apply to your current position - the cost is yours! Even tuition as low as $125! * Employee health benefits have greatly reduced - large deductibles and co-pays with limited in-network selection; Randy McDonald warned RTP, NC employees that if Obama was elected, IBMers would pay the price...AND WE HAVE! * Business travel has greatly reduced - educational conferences, even for top performers, are unheard of. * Coffee/tea anyone? That will cost you the SAME price as Starbucks...$1.60 and more...NO KIDDING! NOTHING IS FREE anymore! Cafeteria food quality has gone down and their prices are more than outside the IBM facilities! * So as to save money in utilities, office supplies and workspace, IBM encourages work from home, thus, reducing team spirit and production. * Salary and Raises? They are getting more and more skimpy and give team members identical excuses, regardless of performance. * IBM should stand for INDIAN BUSINESS MACHINES. Outsourcing to India is huge and hurting so many IBM US employees. Job stability is threatened with outsourcing.
