Pros

Salary above market Lot of advantages Many days of vacation Very good technical teams, which allow a lot of personal growing up Lots of education and training opportunities

Cons

The company is totally lost, there is not real direction, it's basically a fight pit for higher up execs competing for influence, power and money. Meanwhile there is not real technical nor business directions, projects are started and stopped on a whim, compagnies bought and resold like collectible cards, departments fusionned or separated beacuse why not ? Business model is utterly obsolete, and as a developerthere is not contact at all with customers or even practical usage, if they are any actually, sure doesn't seem like it. Day to day work on customerless projects without any clear use case seems utterly senseless and devoid of any meaning.

Pros

Lots of learning resources. Great culture for constant self improvement. IBMers really help other IBMers succeed.

Cons

Layoffs are more frequent than you would like them to be. Valuable peers will be let go, then you will see a new team get created and you wonder why they could not just reassign your peers to the new team. In many sites, promotions can take forever. To get promoted, you better be ready to look at a different company. If you stay there long enough, you may end up with a mindset that everything is better at IBM, limiting your chances to move out quickly if you get laid off.
