massive job offshoring to india and poland
Pros
- local people in San Jose are mostly nice - a lot of material to learn through think40 and other educational sources that are sponsored by IBM. There are certifications available. - EPPS - RSU (not that great)
Cons
- Hard to find local teams yet required to go to the office - reporting chain is spread out all over the world - not enough leading opportunities if you aren't local to dev leadership of the product/project - no culture, team building or social activities at the team level - boring products with limited opportunities for growth - groups of networks that play the system for their own advantage and/or agenda - bad politics - bad managers that provide no guidance, leadership or team culture to help grow the team - unrealistic deadlines - product management lacks knowledge in AI technologies yet they are leading the product vision and have no idea what they are trying to build - developers deliver crappy software to meet deadlines (implementation often meets the minimum happy path) - no time is allocated for technical debt or following best practices - favoritism - early meetings or really late meetings
