If you know someone, then you get a job and are promoted. If not, then you will never get an opportunity to move out of your role.
Cons
IBM is basically rubbing sticks together to make fire, burning wood to make charcoal to write to each other, and absolutely refuses to move into the present time. Most people that work here have been with the company for over 20 years and have worked themselves into positions that are resilient to layoffs, so those that get brought onboard and laid off every 5 years cannot make a dent in the primitive technology they use. Most people’s mentalities are narrow, work in silos, are pretty hostile to feedback and resist change as if it were the plague.
