      Too many cuts, old (business) mindset, bad facilities, and terrible internal tools.

      Pros

      It's extremely easy to be an outperformer. All the technology is at least a decade old and development (due to bureaucracy and process) proceeds at a crawl. Show the tiniest bit of talent and you'll be a rock star. Low level managers are pretty flexible. It's pretty easy to get approval to work from home, which is advisable because the buildings are falling apart.

      Cons

      The management is clueless, nobody has the will to change anything, the internal tools are horrid (ask an IBMer about any Lotus or Rational product, if they've ever used an alternative, they'll have plenty to tell you about).

      Pros

      Really smart co-workers, good people to work with. Used to be a great place to work, grow and retire from.

      Cons

      No respect for the employees Constant layoffs (under the radar most of the time by doing roving 'resource actions' across divisions) Things are starting to hit the fan. Look at the latest numbers posted for this latest round of layoffs (June 2013) at allianceibm.org They won't give you a 401K match unless you are an employee on the books in december - ie. you work all year, if they get rid of you before december, you lose the 401k match They've gotten rid of so much talent that customers are suffering in a bad way and if you work there, you are subjected to firefighting at a scale unseen before.
