Pros

Benefits are priced fairly competitively. Vacation plan is fair. Many people can work remote from home.,

Cons

All IT jobs moving to India, Brazil, Argentina, China. No future for US employees. Little focus on customer satisfaction.

Pros

There are lots of opportunities for advacement and to do different and challenging things. The benefits package is pretty good. The vacation package is reasonable and IBM is very good about extra time off for getting married and having children. There is also a lot of opportunity to work from home.

Cons

IBM is very beauruacratic,, and it is getting worse. It becomes more difficult every day to get things done. The education opportunities used to be much better. They are very restrictive now about the cost of attending classes. When I began 8 years ago there was much focus on promoting educaction and having people develop new skills.

Pros

Decent and comprehensive set of benefits. Ability to interact and network with bright people. A robust infrastructure for access to employee benefit and technical information.

Cons

Annual resource actions by stealth that lop off 10% - even solid and above average performers - is demoralizing. Minuscule or no salary increases. Far too much political correctness required for advancement. I have over 20 years with IBM and moral is the lowest I have ever seen it. People are in fear of keeping their job and therefore reluctant to stretch into a new assignments for fear of being the low person on the totem pole when the next RA hits.
