Pros

IBM provides unmatched learning opportunity in terms of collaboration with partners and in-house learning content. Also, it still retains amazing flexibility and work life balance. Also, the culture of treating even the junior most resource with respect is still there, like old days. Overall, it will score high on most of these areas. After so many changes it has gone through, it managed to retain most of the core values intact. Also, the pay structure is quite simplified (no variable) for most (Band 9) in delivery roles.

Cons

Well, no, it does not give you > 10% hike year on year (not sure which IT company gives that nowadays). Also, IBM can be tricky for people who are used to be told what to do - in terms of day to day work and also overall career. This is something even I found a bit obstructing at first. Then my manager told that IBM is like a buffet, you have to figure out what you want and pick it up yourself. This is something one might find unsettling, specially for those who are used to hold holding.

Pros

- Whether or not you hit your targets doesn't really make a difference. - Poor tracking capabilities and systems mean you can get away doing the bare minimum. - I had flexibility to organise my day and how to work. - It's a bit of a civil servant job but in the private sector if you want to live stress free and get paid. It wasn't for me.

Cons

- Worst benefits in the industry. Period. No health insurance and only 21 days of PTO. They didn't even provide the bare minimum to work from home despite being oblige to do it. - Offices are far away for Dublin in the middle of nowhere. - The reps in the business units wouldn't bother to help you. Their managers wouldn't even reply your email. Everything is super-hierarchical and it's definitely a toxic culture. - Old sales mentality with all the cliches about making a ton of money. - They still believe you need to spend years on a role before progressing.

only good for new hires

Pros

There's a lot of very helpful people who are eager to get you learning whatever product team you're in and the new hire programs are incredible. They do a variety of events to get you to see what your niche is do you can have a stronger footing on what you want to do in the next 5 years. The benefits are also pretty good as well.

Cons

No communication from management and they work you to death because they laid off too many people. Like seriously? Triple the work to make up for the lack of employees that you laid off? Talk about actions meeting consequences. Also they're pushing people to be more in office so the remote work is highly dependent on the manager you're working for and even then it's slim chance.
