Pros

If you don't get fired (they call this a 'resource action') you get a pay check

Cons

20 Quarters of lower revenue - that's a con for sure. Management takes large bonuses while the worker bees go without. No feeling of stability. Morale is in the tank after years of this.

Pros

It used to a great company to work for. Worked there for 32 years. It has gone down hill in the last few years

Cons

No respect for individual. Morale is low and everyone is for themselves. The company is all about marketing smoke and mirrors. Acquired many companies but never integrated the technologies. They said their focus is on cloud, Watson and blockchain. No body think about IBM when they talk about cloud, they are about 10 years behind AWS and Microsoft and Google has passed them in cloud. Watson is just a name they put everything under now. Mixed bag of technologies they acquired and threw under the Watson name. They are still trying to make something out of what won Jeopardy but that was 5 years old. others are doing so much more in AI. Blockchain is what they are betting the company on like they bet on watson. They won't be able to benefit from blockchain for years. This company is doomed.

Pros

There are no longer any 'Pros' to working at IBM. The company continues to loose customers and market share, the endless cycle of budget cuts, layoffs and increased expectations as eroded the last shreds of decency from the company. People are looking to either get out or protect themselves from the next layoff and seasoned professionals are being let go and replaced with young inexperienced people at 1/2 the salary.

Cons

To many to list. The pressure is unrelenting, no one in marketing does any actual marketing they simply take numbers and information, drop them into powerpoint decks or incredibly myopic 'funnel charts' and 'spin the numbers'. Good, decent, seasoned professionals that have spend years trying to right the ship are being let go and replaced by inexperienced college grads and yet management wants to know why the numbers are off, why the pipeline isn't healthier. Marketing is told to sell and promote solutions that do not actually exist and if they do, don't work. The company is all about 'cloud solutions' but the cloud solutions suffer from poor architecture and constant outages.
