Pros

Wonderful co-workers, Ability to work from home.Flexibility. Travel to conferences which enables learning. A few good managers and mentors.

Cons

Long hours, extra work every year due to repeated resource actions, which has become demoralizing. An overly political environment where most management is afraid to take a stand on ANY issue. Poor marketing framework with "New Work of Marketing Model' not working or capturing leads. IBM website that doesn't work to capture responses. Inability to be nimble. IBM moves on turtle time. More important to build consensus than do good work. New CMO has NO tech experience. Most new hires have no experience in tech or the markets IBM plays in. Outsourcing to India and Brazil on the rise. American works are laid off every year.

Pros

- The elder people you work with have a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience you can learn from - Work hours are flexible as long as you do what is expected of you

Cons

- Poughkeepsie, NY is one of the least attractive places to work. The town offers nothing for young people. The consensus among new hires is to work for 2-3 years and then go work somewhere else, away from Poughkeepsie. - Salary is sub-par, bonus' are poor, and raises are not definite. Sadly, there is no monetary incentive to stay; pay is much better elsewhere. - Working from home has been banned. You must come into the office now, or you'll get the boot. - Generally, cost-saving initiatives are at the expense of the employee reflected in their 401K's, benefits, compensation, and flexibility.
