Pros

Brand name, experience working for a large corporation, and resume builder. IBM sales is highly regarded but in order to make more money you'll need to leave IBM. The sales plans are not generous, and re-organizations and layoffs are envogue.

Cons

raise freezes, low compensation, no career path, extremely matrixed, and constantly changing management. The IBM matrix requires you to have far too many sales cadences. You'll spend most of your time reporting to layers management and mending internal IBM issues than selling. Even so, working together as one IBM is a constant challenge as self interest among the brands, and pillars makes the selling process much more complex. For such a large corporation, there is far too much finger pointing and not enough internal coordination/cooperation, which wastes far too much time.

Pros

The pay is competitive. IBM is well known name (and used to be respected).

Cons

There is no loyalty from IBM to its employees. You are treated strictly as a number. Management does not manage to the job, it manages to the dollar. IBM has gone from being one of the best, most sought after companies to work for, to being a pariah.

Pros

IBM has a large global presence and can whether a downtown in the economy better than smaller companies. Also, IBM does reward it's top contributors well. And finally, IBM does try to be sensitive to the "work life balance".

Cons

As a big company, it's sometime hard to "stay in the loop", i.e. communication becomes more difficult as IBM has a large number of sites spread out geographically with even small teams tending to be geographically separated.
