IBM has a great network, strong reputation, ample opportunities to expand skill set, and a strong infrastructure to support employees.

Cons

There are too many managers, one on your project, a career manager that assesses your compensation, and resource managers that ensures you are staffed on projects. It is easy to get lost if you are not pro-active and no one will have true desire to match your skills with what you want to do. A lot of the times you have no real interaction with the manager who will determine your compensation and the feedback he/she receives to make these decisions are from paper documentation from your local project.

Work at home flexibility, Ability to telephone long distance through the company, Ability to contact any IBMer within the company through IBM tools and Sametime. Innovation is encouraged though Technical forums.

Cons

Job responsibility is highly streamlined. Work experience cannot be gained even 5% outside the role as there will be a handover to another person.
