Pros

IBM is a good place for a diverse experience across a wide range of areas. I

Cons

Stagnant advancement, poor communication with management, older workforce. have been here for less than a year and have received very little feedback and very little contact with management. Opportunity to grow and move up seems to be very difficult because people tend to stay around for a long time. There was very little growth which also limited career advancement. The work force average age is rather high and people seem to be set in their ways of doing things rather being inovative. Instead of looking for new ways to approcah problems they stick to what they know.

Pros

Many of the people. Basically good people. Lots of resources in terms of jobs, benefits, opportunities, etc. Working at a large company like IBM for twenty four years was like working for several companies. The jobs ranged in responsibilities and most of the time as a professional hire you were pretty much on your own in terms of managing your time. Assignments were given and it was up to you to decide how to approach and or deliver results. The people at IBM for the most part are great people and one can develop great friendships. IBM's reputation carries a lot of weight in the industry, depending on the type of job you're seeking.

Cons

Too large and complex with hundreds of procedures, many layers of management and politics. The culture and size of the organization can also make one feel isolated. Often times because you are on your own in terms of how you work, you may not actually see your manager for months at a time. The business controls and procedures can sometimes bog you down with the time it takes to develop the necessary documentation to meet compliance. It can also be frustrating when you discover there is duplication and some managers operate with blinders on and just direct you to comply if if there is duplication.

Pros

Solid company with interesting opportunities for young employees go are interested in technology systems. Good, and established procedures. Companies core values are important to all levels, and are shared with all the companies´ environment. They have an "employee club" that organizes events, and seeks for benefits for workers.

Cons

As it is the case of many large coorporations, task can be too specific in certain positions, and some times too monotonous (boring), which can make it difficult to outstand from the croud. There is not much feed-back for operational positions. Compensations are not very competitive. Sometimes it feels there is over share for meaningless information, but not much about important issues.
