Pros

Reputation, branding, diversity, wide variety of experts in many areas. Company is universally known so hopefully it will help former employees get their next jobs. Some opportunities exist to work from home although in the consulting group, too much time is spent at client sites and traveling.

Cons

Poor compensation, compensation is not tied to performance, bonuses are poor, unclear promotion and compensation criteria. In consulting, one of the advantages is supposed to the ability to be vendor neutral when recommending new systems for implementation. However IBM tries to force IBM hardware and software to its consulting services clients rather than going with the best vendor for a particular situation.
