      big name, lots of opportunities,they make the best PCs on the planet, the Operating Systems have never been outperformed, they will always produce exceptional hardware, a retirement program that is the envy of the world, the company country club is superb, the mainframe business is still going strong, DB2 rocks!, Lotus Notes continues to destroy the poseur Exchange system for kids,

      big company bureaucracy, some politics as expected in such large company, careful - don't get caught in the wake of that wave coming your way...you can make more but only when you leave the company, so don't plan on getting comfortable there

      Pros

      Compared to other tech companies ibm is relatively stable and the chances of getting laid of are smaller. ibm is fairly flexible about work hours and working from home, however this depends a lot on your manager. Benefits are ok. In general if you work hard, you will be rewarded. smart engineers. stock is still doing good considering the tough econmic times

      The breadth of IBM's technical community is amazing, and you can work with people who are among the most passionate about the work they do.

      Cons

      While there is a a ton of interesting work going on, it can be hard to navigate IBM. The best advise would be to find a good mentor to help navigate the organization
