Pros

- Great place to start a career - Excellent work / life Balance - Learning opportunities - Acces to information - Support from internatinal teams - Stable place to work for

Cons

- Salary - Compensation - Career Advancement - No clear career path - Almost non existent salary increases - No recognition for top performers - It does not have a young dinamic workforce (there are some but very few compared to the whole company)

Pros

IBM has a very respectful working environment. Employees have tremendous freedom to complete their work. There is a campaign environment to much of the work that divides the year into distinct cycles and phases. The opportunities to interact with Research, Services, Software, Hardware, and Industries provides a lot of areas for professional development.

Cons

Very slow career progression. Many executives bully employees. IBM constantly revisits old ideas instead of searching for new ones. Some of the best leaders have recently retired. The yearly PBC review process is arbitrary and the goals are often abstract. IBM has one of the most convoluted compensation programs in the world. Complaints from sales reps about unpaid commissions and constantly changing bonus metrics are so common.

Pros

IBM is a good place to get your foot in the door and once you realize they are trying to stick you where the sun doesn't shine then come to terms and leave the joint.

Cons

In the division that I worked in downtown Tulsa, Business Consulting Services, management was extremely unoraganized, training was unheard of, and anyone you needed to contact for help was located in India and didn't know how to speak good English. Everything is micro-managed right down to the time you sit at your desk to the time you go on break. The yearly bonus was a joke and so was the pen & pencil set I received during the Christmas holiday. All of my overtime and extra effort put forth in many projects went unrecognized.
